1. Optimized Content

The first is adjusting the content on your WordPress website to fit better SEO.  It’s understandable to want to create content with individualism and character, but unfortunately, Google does not have a filter or algorithm for this. The best way to have your content found is by using rich and organic keywords. The longer your keyword, the more chance you have of appearing on the first page of Google. These are called long-tail keywords and are vital to ensuring you will be found when someone is looking for something your selling. Be sure to use keywords in all of your blog posts in order to gain more traffic.

Developing Optimized Content

Optimizing the WordPress website ranking is the best way to ensure that the site is optimized for SEO ranking. The strategy states that you must include right keywords in the website content so that search engines are able to pick on the websites for higher rank. It also means that the content should be unique and no duplicate issues should be found. Content must also be relevant so that it may attract the genuine attention of the readers.

2. Design

The next is ensuring your website has a bespoke WordPress design. Some of the WordPress themes look great, but do you really want the same design as thousands of others? Having a website that is unique and easy to use will give you great flexibility and your users an exclusive experience. The use of free or premium themes can also cause you frustrations through the themes not functioning in a particular way that you would like for your website. Start from the ground up so that you can customize the theme to do exactly what you want it to and give your users the experience you desire for them.

3. Choose Ideal Images

You can also optimize the images you use on your WordPress website for SEO. A picture can paint a thousand words and the recent growth in the use of Social Medias such as Instagram and Snapchat prove that we are a nation of visuals. The more quality images you use will give your users a better experience and even make them more likely to want to read your content. If you are selling something through the use of your blog, attractive images can even make a customer more likely to purchase. Take photos using a respectable camera and edit the images in Photoshop to make them look more appealing. This being said, you also need to optimize your images for the web. You shouldn’t be using any images in your WordPress gallery over 100KB. There are specific ways to save images so that they are optimized for the web.

Google, the giant search engine has described certain parameters that play an important role in the overall ranking of WordPress websites. Among certain other parameters, Google also considers images while calculating the rank of websites. As the giant search engine includes both the texts & and the images in its search results, including relevant images on the post itself that are linked to corresponding pages is the key to higher SEO ranking for the WordPress websites.

4. Social

Another great way to get attention to your WordPress site is to go social. Share blog posts and pages on Social Media for another route that traffic can take to be directed to your website. There is the popular free Jetpack plugin for WordPress that automatically shares to Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Tumblr, Reddit, and WhatsApp. You can also pay to upgrade this plugin and get Search Engine Optimisation tools and an advertising program. Think how much more exposure you can get just through you sharing your posts. Then take this a step further and make sure all of your pages feature share buttons so that people can share their positive experience on your site to all of their friends also.

5. Right Keywords

Including the right keyword has the potential to boost the ranking of custom WordPress websites. Thus, it is an important task for WordPress developers to have an in-depth research to include the list of essential keywords on the website. It is suggested to use the keyword with relevancy in as many places as you can where necessary. Don’t spam it, otherwise, you will get caught. It is also the best practice to include the keyword in the H2 heading as well as the H3 subheading. Remember, relevancy matters; therefore never try to stuff keywords unnecessarily.

6. Meta Data

It is also very important to understand the role of titles and Meta tags, WordPress allows you to give each post it’s own and these fields are used by Google and other search engines to determine what to show in their result for each search keyword. You can get a plugin called Yoast SEO which improves your site’s SEO and has its own Meta box which optimizes a Meta robot index to help ensure you use the best possible titles and Meta tags.

meta description

Meta descriptions are the short summaries that come after the headlines of write-ups. These descriptions play an important role to bring potential visitors on the websites when the content goes live on the social media. Great meta descriptions have the ability to draw in visitors’ attention on the content and further initiate them to visit the website. Thus, in case you need to boost the ranking of your responsive WordPress website try writing engaging meta descriptions.

It is a good practice to exchange backlinks with relevant websites (that have high page rank) that relate to your topic. It is also suggested to link within the website pages if it seems relevant. Don’t just link every page to the other as it may not seem ideal to the visitors coming to your website. It is very important to be cautious while adding the backlinks as irrelevant pages may disappoint visitors and further the ranking of the websites.

Wrap up

Unless you’re only writing your blog for yourself to read, it is essential that other people can find your WordPress website. You don’t need to stuff your content with keywords or posts written for a robot. SEO doesn’t have to take the creativeness out of your website; you just need to tweak the aspects mentioned in this article in order to reach out the maximum possible audience. These small and simple changes can make a huge difference in your traffic.

  1. Thank you for these tips for WordPress SEO. Just curious is it better to post shorter word count content frequently or to post less often but have longer detailed posts?

For example, should I post 1,000 word posts once a week or should I post 2,000 word posts once every two weeks.

Which strategy would you recommend for better rankings? Thanks in advance.

    1. The word count shouldn’t matter. It’s the quality of the blog post that matters. Did the blog post accomplish something useful to your visitors? Did it raise unanswered questions? Well, write a blog post about those.

Typically I would say min. of 500 words but I never put a limit on word count. It’s the content that matters. People visit your blog not because of the design, they are there because you supply something they want.

It can be products, services you sell or the expert advice/news you blog about.

1,000 are fine but if you can do around 2,000 or more, think about writing an ebook or a serious of books to sell pertaining to a specific thing.

For the rankings, make sure you have a SEO plugin install on your blog and set up properly. This helps in getting the blog post indexed faster and more SEO friendly which helps with rankings. You need to work on getting backlinks related to your niche to help get rankings over time.
